Design overview:
Peloro is a 7 story building, sited on the edge of Biscayne Bay. The 113 residences rise up for panoramic views of the city, South Beach, Bal Harbour, and the Atlantic Ocean.
Resembling a “light house on shore”, the building circular footprint is divided in a North and South wings, creating a monumental portal that frames the Bay view, where both wings complete the circular footprint at the 7th floor, and 8th floor hardscape terrace.
The North lobby trapezoidal footprint opens up towards Collins Avenue historical- preserved façade. The design intent was to develop an organic wooden structure, anchoring through its parabolic shape, and curvilinear ceiling- indirect coves, all building public functions, the North lobby grand space, seating area, outdoor courtyard, library, spa, and mezzanine fitness center overhanging the library, into one continuous gallery.
The organic structure resembles” a hull” of a wooden ship, where the wood siding system curves along the space on x and y directions. Satin stainless steel columns disrupt the wooden structure length, establishing a rhythm along the space, while emphasizing its monumental perception.
The pool deck is located at the site Southwest corner, facing Biscayne Bay, and is accessible from the building structure portal walkway gardens.
The 8th floor building becomes a hard surface plaza, with contained landscape and hardscape, seating areas and walkway passages over the ocean framing view.
